We read a Slinky Malinky this week. This story is about a sneaky cat that goes out at night and takes anything and everything that he can find.
The students came up with different words to describe Slinky like sly, sneaky, adventurous. Then they made their own Slinky Malinky cat!

CELEBRATIONS!
We have been talking about the different celebrations in Canada. We talked about how we celebrate with food, decorations and ceremonies.
MATH!
We have been counting the days at school by adding a straw each day to our cup. We have been counting by tens and when we have a group of ten straws, we move the group to the Tens cup. We also add a day to our Hundreds Chart so that the students can see the patterns in numbers as we move towards 100!
PATTERNS!
We have been doing a unit on Patterning. We created a pattern for our October calendar. The students loved to demonstrate the pattern using actions.

Happy Eid al Adha Happy Thanksgiving
We have been celebrating our holidays this week. We have been comparing the two holidays and discussing the different ways we celebrate.
FALL POEMS
We have been learning some fall poems. Here are two poems the students have loved to sing. They are in their Red Folder so sing along with your child for homework!

FALL!
We have begun to talk about some of the changes happening around us. Again we are using our senses to describe what we see (leaves changing colours), hear (crunching leaves) what we smell (delicious smells of fall cooking like apple pie) and what we feel (colder, wet leaves). The class wrote a song about fall and we had fun singing it together.
APPLES!
We have been using our senses to explore apples! We tasted some different apples and graphed our favourite apple. Green was the favourite of the class! We did some apple art using our hand prints after reading Mr. Brown's Magnificient Apple Tree.
